Adelaide Hills Cellar Doors You Simply Must Visit

The Adelaide Hills is a beautiful corner of the world, and if you’re a wine lover, it’s even more appealing. There are so many wineries and cellar doors to visit in the area, and award-winning wines to sample at each turn. If you’re coming up to the Adelaide Hills, whether it be for a day trip, to visit our excellent restaurant, to do some sightseeing or stay at the heritage Mount Lofty House, you can partake in a tasting of some of the best wines the area has to offer. Here are a few of our favourite wineries.

Shaw + Smith

At Shaw + Smith, you will be greeted by a sleek, modern building overlooking the sprawling vineyards. Here you can try the selection of Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Shiraz. Oozing top-tier restaurant vibes, you can visit and enjoy a wine tasting and cheese pairing for a comprehensive and satisfying experience.

Deviation Road

Owned by husband and wife duo Kate and Hamish Laurie, try traditional-style sparkling wine at this quaint and charming boutique winery. Kate has been trained traditionally in Lycee Viticole d’Avize in winemaking, so you know it’s got to be good. Sit with flute in hand on the verandah in the sunshine and soak up the atmosphere.

Bird in Hand

Visit renowned and iconic Australian winery Bird in Hand, set among sprawling lawns, rolling hills and vast vineyards to sample Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Shiraz. The winery also hosts a bill of international artists, if you’re lucky enough to visit when one is passing through.

Howard Vineyard

Howard vineyard is the embodiment of rustic charm, with its sandstone features and restored heritage barn set among gumtrees, tiered lawns and of course the scenic vineyard centrepiece. Sip on award-winning Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc between games of croquet.

K1 by Geoff Hardy

Savour breathtaking views at this stunning cellar door, where you can sit on the balcony of the wooden lodge-esque structure, looking over the gorgeous lake with a glass of premium vintage Sparkling, Tzimmukin Shiraz Cabernet. This winery should be on any wine lover’s bucket list.

At Hardy’s Verandah Restaurant, we know wines and excellent cuisine. Come and dine with us if you’re a foodie or oenophile and visiting the Adelaide Hills area to sample some of the drops from these highly acclaimed wineries. You won’t be disappointed.
